Description

This is a picture I made for the sequel to 'Curse of the Were Pony'.
I think the pic is self explanatory, Considering using this as the cover art for the story.

For some time, I've been wanting to weigh in on the Sparity ship.  I understand that most who are opposed to the ship usually do so on the grounds that Spike is simply younger (either physically, mentally, or both) than Rarity, and would rather accept the ship with Spike aged up to an equivalent level as Rarity.  I think the ship is fine the way it is right now; I don't want Spike to grow up just to suit Rarity.  Younger Spike as he is right now is a sort of underdog as his strife to court the high-class Rarity amounts to nothing short of an uphill battle, and the hope that he does succeed in this uphill battle makes the ship more appealing.  Another facet of me opposing aging up Spike is due to the nature of dragon behavior as they mature; just look at how Spike's behavior and mentality changed as he increased in size (reference the episode "Secret of my Excess"), and look at the other dragons depicted in the series.  The impression that I got was this: the larger the dragon, the more aggressive he is.  I don't want a brutish, aggressive monster to be paired with Rarity, and I doubt she would still think of Spike the same way if Spike was older and more aggressive.  To me, a larger Spike means a more aggressive Spike...and this version of Spike pining after Rarity is a scary thought.
As a male myself, I usually tend to think that males as we grow older become more aggressive.  I've entertained the thought of women being larger than some males (avoiding the term "boys" here), and in the role of protector than the other way around.  I think some guys want to break from the norm and wish for a turn at being coddled and protected...short of overt infantilization.  To make this short, this is why I enjoy the idea of Spike and Rarity being shipped together as they are right now.
